Today I heard this: "Dude, we have this, on it". Coming from these people it means much. They mean it. I have watched their children grow up, had one in a Basic Pistol class not so long ago, a very nice young lady that I was stunned to see in class. A shy pre-adolescent in the day, now shooting a Handgun. The other is now a newly minted Grandfather. I trust these people with my life.
If these people tell me they have it, I believe them. The other thing is after all these years with them I would truly miss them in my life. They have witnessed many things blow up in my life but they were always there. I have done the same with them.
I hated this place 20+ years ago. All I wanted to do was go home. Now I have some peace here, friends that mean much. It is not so much a physical location that you end up in where you feel comfortable, it is the people that surround you, the ones that you are comfortable with to draw into your circle. As they do with you.
The Blogger world is much like this.
To my friends here I say thank you. I am a better person to have met you.
I would let you know later if my friends truly "have it" but it is a foregone conclusion.
I have found that friends are usually reflections. I suspect what you see in these folks is exactly why they are attracted to you.
ReplyDeleteIt too take comfort in a number of young folks I know who truly "have it", makes life a bit easier at times.
ei- That was profound. Thanks for that.
DeleteAnd we're better for having you.
ReplyDeleteIt's the essence of a community!
Thanks drjim.
Delete@Keads... it was, is, and will be a pleasure knowing you through the blogosphere... "iron sharpens iron"...
ReplyDeleteDann in Ohio

DeleteFriends are the family we choose and who choose us. I feel the same way about you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Six!
DeleteSo, so true. It's always the people!
ReplyDeleteagirl, it truly is all about the people.
DeleteThat goes both ways Keads! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sir!
DeleteSo true - the people around us become extended family, often closer than blood family.
ReplyDeletePH- I was thinking about just that. I spend more waking hours with these guys than anyone else.
DeleteBlogger friends can be some of the best. I've met a number and I've found they are the best in real life as they appear in the blogs.
ReplyDeleteCrucis, I too have met some in person and you are exactly right. A pleasant surprise.
DeleteGood for you!
ReplyDeleteKeads, Murphy and I got yer back and We'll defend you against pretty much anyone...unless they're trash-talking you about your "granny driving". Can't really argue that point. But anything else...hell, We're with ya, guy.
ReplyDeleteFair enough my friend! Same to you and Murphy.
DeleteOh Kelly what a sweet post about friends! Guess I should really say "sweet", but just wanted to take a minute and say that we are the lucky ones to have you in our lives.
ReplyDeleteLynn & Mark
Lynn, I don't know how we all got here, but the journey has been personally and professionally rewarding. Thanks for the complement.
