Back in the day I had really good eyes. Now they are corrected for distance to drive and the last time I went to the eye doctor he wanted to prescribe bi-focal lenses. Sigh. I refused them and got the glasses for legally operating a motor vehicle only.
As that was some years ago, I now find myself when doing "stuff" needing some magnification and all the light I can gather in the universe!
The bench is easy.
Big goosenecked magnifier and attached two tube fluorescent fixture. If I need more I have a three way lamp to the right of this.
On the reloading press I recently installed some clever LED lighting.
This LED kit on the Hornady press (I know, I know, I HAD to be different, right) is the only light in the room with no flash for the picture. It made a huge difference!
Next up for you? A review of the DeSantis Superfly holster for a S&W Bodyguard with a 5.11 concealment shirt.

Suzi on the line!
So I visit my Curmudgeon and we get to it with Suzi (M1 Carbine) at a super secret testing facility. I was stunned to see him take right to it with Appleseed worthy sling skills. He also took advantage of something to lean on. It seems that he has done this before! Looks like this:
We have a small problem though. Ocassionaly the bolt will be to the rear and will not feed a new round into the chamber. I dont know where the magazine came from that came with it, and magazines for active service were considered disposable I am told. Got two from the Interwebs and even with new rifle springs and a complete Bolt assembly it still does the same thing. So, try different magazines first.
This arrived today. I will get a chance to try it out either before or after my new shooter class on Saturday or at lunch during my Concealed Carry class on Sunday (Fathers Day people!)
It also appeared to be a slow news day in nearby Metropolis yesterday. Coworker today called up and said he saw me on the news last night. I don't remember any party getting out of hand here last night! Fox reran this from a year ago.
Anyone have any suggestions on the failure to feed on the M1 Carbine?

My home town is giving me the sads.
Back in the day you could go to Whitaker Park and get a tour of a cigarette manufacturing plant. You could at the end of the tour get a free pack of smokes, bumper sticker, and a pen.
In fact, if you were a newbie employee, RJR handed you one of these maps to get around (click to enlarge).
That WAS downtown Winston-Salem.
Then if you were really hard up, you could go to the south end of town, get a tour of the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company plant and grab a beer in the "brown bottle" room at the end of the tour.
They do good work there. Sad that the message of safe gun handling and training was summarily ignored for this made up controversy.
Sigh.... Perhaps you can't go home again.

One man media blitz!
Hey I'm on a roll! First local news and now a letter published in the USCCA magazine! Media blitz! You should check it out. It does have some very distinguished contributors. Tam, Oleg, and Kathy for starters!
Ok, now to scare everyone going to Blogfest in Indy tomorrow. I shot this picture today (click to enbiggen):
Never fear! I will not be able to attend, Zombie Bowling Pin match tomorrow! I have to do that and I have private Handgun instruction before it. Sorry I am going to miss it! I hope y'all have fun up there! I DO have friends in Indiana. So you can actually have a tag that says that? Texas and Indiana are becoming two of my favorite states!

Cool Under Stress
If I was being marched to the cooler by three armed robbers I only hope I could be as composed.

Gun range
And has been pointed out before, the story states that the "gun went off" at the range. Uh, no it did not!

What's above enthusiast?
An excerpt from an article in the Orlando Sentinel "Ritz estimated that about 1 percent of permit holders actually carry their guns daily. Those tend to be shooting enthusiasts, who fire at least 50 bullets in practice each month. Perhaps 25 percent of his students occasionally go armed and the rest almost never do, he said."
So, let me get this straight. 50 bullets a month make you an "enthusiast"? Hell, 100 rounds a week is slow for me, so am I a zealot? fanatic? right wing nut job? have no life?
Sheesh!
