I'm in the Red shirt BTW (usually death for the landing party security dude, but makes me more visible on the range)!
"Would rather shoot guns than sip tea and shop"? Rather sexist in my opinion. However, the new shooter course went well. I am humbled to serve in this capacity. The toll on me however to insure that everyone leaves with the same amount of body openings as they came in with is great. No matter, it is a passion I posses. Congratulations to my newly minted shooters both Male and Female!
I would however have paid real money for some fellow bloggers to answer the softball questions!

When do I get an autograph?
ReplyDeleteMatt- LOL! Wait on it!
ReplyDeleteToo cool!
ReplyDeleteI went to the range today for a class that one of my friends teaches, and out of the 8 students, six were women.
And they're all gonna turn in to fine shooters, and they were all 2A people.
Maybe there's hope for us yet!
drjim- Perhaps there is hope! I DO enjoy it, it is important. It DOES wear me out one weekend a month but it is worth it.
ReplyDeleteAs you say perhaps there is hope for us yet. Most of my basic pistol students come back for concealed carry class. So much the better!
That's cool. Well done sir. Happy and enthusiastic shooters, a sure sign of a good instructor.
ReplyDeleteThese women impressed me in that they're not people who were mugged or assaulted and "want a gun for protection" types. They were seriously interested in learning about different types of handguns, safety, and how to shoot effectively. I've been in a LOT of classes where you could tell "the gun thing" was a passing fancy of most of the students. Or they were there to take a class or two, and then they'd 'know it all'.
ReplyDeleteThese women WILL continue their training. You could just tell by the types of questions they asked, and how they behaved on the range.
Very impressive group of women!
Six, Thanks! I do not have to be all "right wing nut job". I try to present these tools just as that. Tools.
ReplyDeleteFor these people once they know, once these tools have been demystified to them, they will do everything they can to keep them.
I'm subtle that way. Plus for me I never had to say it.
Well done Keads! And a surprisingly good reporting job too! :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good weekend. And the tools are pretty facinating
ReplyDeleteI thought "ordering pink and purple gear" was a little sexist to me (Could be that's just me, I don't like pink or purple)
ReplyDeleteGreat Job, but you should have smiled for the camera~ :-)
NFo- Thanks! I agree, it was not a bad piece of reporting.
ReplyDeletePH, Yes it was a great weekend! The tools we use for new shooters are .22's, .38's and 9's. Both semi and revolvers.
SS- Yeah they put the "spin" on that.
Smile? I thought I was!
Great piece! Yeah, the general media will never get their head out of their rear when it comes to women and guns. Those ladies were so great in their interviews. Learning that you have the power to defend yourself is exhilarating. I think if I would have seen that news piece without warning, I would have fainted.
ReplyDeletedrjim, They most certainly will be back. Great insight. I was in the trees, not looking at the forest when all of this went down. Plus I now had non-shooters (reporter and cameraman) to take care of.
ReplyDelete45er, Me too!
This was a sexist report! Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteLike I can't handle myself with a weapon, and as IF I want that dumb pink lady and/or accessories.
Nice to see that you're famous, now! :)
Brooke, I agree completely! However I must say this was not a anti gun slam piece. Hey, you could have said I looked good on camera or something! ;)
ReplyDeleteUplifting bit of news. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you mentioned you were in the red shirt. Until I hit that part of the post I was thinking the purple blouse was most unflattering for your hair color. ;-)
ReplyDeleteActually, they caught your good side Keads. You're right, about 1.8 seconds. I believe you are still due another 14 minutes and 58.2 seconds of fame. At that rate, by my calculations, you could end up in another 499 news spots.
Our side could use a lot more guys like you, Keads. Excellent!
ReplyDeletePawnbroker
They just can't help themselves being sexist and misogynistic.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Kneads!
TJ- You are welcome and it is encouraging!
ReplyDeletekx59- I figured that my life is more pedestrian than average so I assumed I would get 15 seconds of fame instead of the average 15 minutes.
pawnbroker- Thanks and welcome!
That Guy- I agree! Welcome!
The ladies interviewed carried themselves very well. You did a great job with our concealed carry class, so I'm sure those from the day before will be excellent as well as safe shooters.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the good coverage! I really liked how the ladies were very interested in every aspect of the skill - not just point and shoot but cleaning, safety, etc. Shows a good teacher was giving a well-rounded lesson.
ReplyDeleteAh, Shucks, now I can say I've a link on my blog to a movie star...
ReplyDeleteJohn, they did comport themselves well. Thanks for the complement!
ReplyDeleteLauraB, I am honored that you took the time to comment. I know you are busy. Thank you for the complement. It means a great deal.
Stephen- Not so much movie star! Just a dude doing his thing.
I'm late to the party, but well done!
ReplyDeleteNorth, No biggie, I know you have been busy. Great to hear from you though!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your fame! I have no problem with men using pink guns. (wink, wink)
ReplyDeleteKeads: Well, of course you looked good! That goes without saying!
ReplyDeleteThanks Supi!
ReplyDeleteBrooke- Why thanks!
