Thank You Ms. Parrish!

This actress was accomplished with a history of work at that time. Then she met up with some guy named William Ware Theiss, the costume designer for the original Star Trek series. He seemed to enjoy tweaking the NBC Broadcast Standards Department with his work.

This was GLUED on to her for over 4 days. In the '60's, the adhesives were a bit more harsh than now. She commented that at the end of the third day, there was not a lot of skin left to glue it back onto.

Many critics call "Who Mourns for Adonis" one of the most emotional episodes of that series. I agree. A tragic tale, condensed from a huge script of Shakespearean proportions to fit a one week filming schedule and budget.

Not that there was some levity to be had!

Thank you Ms. Parrish!

A Bit of Trivia!

John Newland directed the first season Star Trek TOS episode "Errand of Mercy." He was also known for another little TV series. Filming began the week of NASA test AS-204, resulting in the death of three Astronauts. 185K budget, six days for filming. At the studios owned by Lucille Ball.

With all apologies to my great friend Murphy's Law with his fantastic Saturday Man Movies posts, I present this.

I have not seen it in some time. Here is the trailer:

If you need an update on it, here is a retelling.

Thunderbirds are Go!

Gerry Anderson passed away on December 26th this year.  A talented man that made puppets and Sci-Fi cool way back then. He made the phrase "Thunderbirds are go" a common catchphrase way back then.

I also commented some time ago here about another project he headed.  The TV series UFO.

The intro Youtube clip has died from that post. Here is another.

Godspeed Sir. You were a talented person that brought worlds of wonder to me way back when.  Oh, the silver miniskirts count!
