Tired....

This is.

So I wandered off the reservation and got one of these.Wired this is.

iPhone 4s. I attempted to let a friend know about the thing and she is a road warrior for a living. As I go to the bathroom, I get this missive.

Heh, I do love snarky stuff from my friends, it keeps me sharp!

So the first thing I try is to see if the Alpine unit in the daily beater that is equipped with an iPod interface will charge the thing. No joy.

Well OK but the Alpine at least recognizes it. Sorta.

I can understand the fanbois. This phone is a computer that oh by the way makes phone calls. I'm not drinking all of the Kool-Aid yet though!

  1. It grows on you pretty fast. I was a serious Android fan, but then I got an iPhone 4S and its been pretty darn good.

    1. It has been sweetness and light so far. Battery management is important.

  3. It won't charge it. But it will play all the music you can ever want to listen to with no commercials, no bad songs, and no signal fade. It will do it for hours. The controls on the radio will (at least on mine) control the volume, jump past a song, etc. If you're on a multi-day trip, you can always charge it on the cigarette lighter for a couple of hours and continue on.

I could care less about a fancy cell phone, but as a music delivery system, these things are awesome. Particularly when you're old enough to remember AM radio and 8-Tracks.

  4. I have a droid because I REFUSE to have a contract! Otherwise, It'd be Apple all the way.

    Congrats on the new baby!

  5. Had a free (supplied by employer) 'droid razr. Loathed it so much I handed it back after 4 months and got the 4S on my own dime. I could barely go an entire day without getting PO'd at that android. What a POS. Much happier now. Soft keyboard in infinitely better, the few apps I have are ones I want and they work, wifi hookups are much more surely handled... just generally MUCH less hassle. I don't need aggravation from my mobile phone, I have plenty of other sources for that.
