So.....

After being motivated by a noted gun blogger and conversations tonight I have been motivated to do the 2000 round test that Tam has been doing.

I'm doing it with a twist though. A brand new Colt Mustang XSP with less than 100 rounds through it head to head with a first generation Colt Mustang (1987 or so) with less than 500 rounds through it.

I'll field strip both, clean and lube them. Lets see how this goes!

Dang it Tam! Like I need another hobby right now! Like figuring this camera out =)

  1. This could be interesting ... old vs. new, and all that. Of course, I still think of the '80s as recent, so YMMV. :)

    1. Being old myself, I'm always tempted to root for the old school, as farcically commented on by my kids when they give me "Old Guys Rule" t-shirts. So I'd say the steely will make mincemeat outa that mattel version. Except...

Well, much as I love old 1911's and disdain Gaston's products, we know how a head to head there would go.

And while to me 60's Chevys will always be the finest in locomotion, the crappiest of today's computers on wheels will outrun, outperform, and outlast them without question.

And as much as my parents' Greatest Generation really was, now my Boomer gen makes up the oldsters, and face it, if our kids and g-kids don't do better than we did, there won't be any more here here pretty soon.

      Sad face.

  3. Did you put the same recoil spring in both before the test?

  5. If only Colt would have made their little gun a double action. You know, since the metal one was already perfect.
