Let's start this war on my little space. Laura over at "insert witty title here" has a wonderful post about Glocks. Not only about the Pistol itself, but rabid fans of it too. I laughed out loud!
I don't like them, but just as much as H&K, (fill in the blank of any other manufacturer here) the "Glockaholics" will come out of the woodwork to defend them as the pinnacle of firearm development.
If you have one and like it, fine my me. There are enough flavors of Kool-Aid to go around for everyone.
Disclaimer: I am a certified factory Glock Armorer. I have shot plenty of them and taken them apart and put them back together. I stand by Laura's post. I hate them.
Let's see a 911 Torture Test.:)

I'm not a big fan of Glock, either. But hey, if they work and someone likes it, fine.
ReplyDeleteExactly Brooke!
DeleteOh dear. I liked firing ML's Glocks. But those two little things on each side of the slide that have to be pushed down in order to strip them have about got me licked.
ReplyDeletePH- To each! I don't care for pulling the trigger to field strip either.
DeleteI love my Glock. I don't think it's ugly , it is might comfy and for a year it gave me a peace of mind, I desperately needed, but, I don't really get anyone being so crazed over a single manufacturer. Most all of the top gun makers make a quality firearm and it's really just about preference. Don't be a hater:)
ReplyDeleteAGirl, you are exactly right. It is a preference. Hater?!?!? Me! I am a member of the GSSF too!
DeleteHold on a minute... I'll ask Ruger, our German Shepherd, what he things of Glocks...
ReplyDeleteHe says they taste just like all his plastic chewin' bones...
;-)
Dann in Ohio
Dann, LOL!
DeleteIf it doesn't say Colt...LOL I actually have and shoot Glocks in addition to Colts...
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with them NFO, I just don't have anything for them either!
DeleteTo each their own, but I do find your "hating" them (yeah, I know you're joking) curious considering you're drinking the SWock kool-aid :-).
ReplyDeleteI went from 1911s to Glock, back to 1911s, to SWock (S&W M&P) and now back to Glock.
Everybody is different so whatever works best for you is just fine.
Aaron, I was joking and commenting more on the rabid "fans" of "the only one" more than anything else. I have drunk the SWock kool-aid for now as you point out.
DeleteI still LOVE my Colt 1911, but I have to note I will never jump up in a Blog or forum saying "COLT'S rule luzers".
Plus I was bored when I posted this!
Keads that is just the funniest thing I've seen in quite some time.
ReplyDelete[wipes tears from eyes]
still laughing.
I've only held one, never shot it. It felt like a king sized brick in my hand, and I don't have small hands.
still laughing.
k, going now...chuckle...snort
kx59, It was funny!
DeleteCall me crazy but I actually have a secret Walther fetish *grin* Those two years I spent in Germany ruined me.
ReplyDeleteNah, you are not crazy! Got a Walther PPK/s around here and it's a fun little pistol! Welcome!
DeleteI've owned three, a 17, 26 and 30. They worked fine, shot okay.
ReplyDeleteBut they don't have a soul, as steel and walnut does.
However, I'm a libertarian in most things - different strokes for different folks!
GiA, I agree, they work fine. I just don't like 'em!
DeleteI like mine but I don't love it. I used to have 3 but have whittled my collection down to just one, my competition G35.
ReplyDeleteThey're hammers, un-beautiful but massively functional right out of the box. Inexpensive, accurate with parts, dealers and armorers everywhere. They're guns I'd throw in my truck and lose no sleep if it got banged around. No wood, no scroll work, nothing to make it an heirloom of your house. They're blue collar pistols, suited to those who make their livings chasing bad people.
They're hairy chested, receding hairlines kinda guns. If they were people they'd be rodeo clowns. Yeah folks laugh at them but when a rampaging beast is preparing to steamroll you mighty handy to have around.
I'd own one any time and for virtually and purpose with no reservations and no regrets.
Six, Exactly that! Well put!
DeleteWay back when I was a moderator at GlockTalk, I commented that there was a lot to like about Glocks and nothing to love.
ReplyDeleteSome folks got all butthurt at that, but what're you gonna do?
(PS: I'm carrying a 19 right now...)
Bricklayers find the Glock quite ergonomic.
