Oh look a Rifle!

So I get handed this thing (as usual click to enlarge):

I miked the muzzle with a .232" diameter. It appears to be magazine fed.

If anyone can offer any help or needs better pics to help let me know! I have no idea here. I don't even know where to start to find out anything about this one! I'm in WAY over my head!

  2. It's an East Prussian Phased Plasma Rifle. The curved trigger guard is indicative of the earlier, C Model (the later models, X, * and 3 all had unguarded triggers for space gloves). The proof marks are from the Royal House of Skyneteth Armorery. It's internally fused with 4 bolts in the magazine and one in the fusing chamber. From the bore size I'd say it's probably in the 40 watt range.
    Hope this helps Keads.

  4. I think I found it for you, Keads! It's Italian. I was scrolling through rifles and trying to stay away from countries that were either well known (English and their Enfields) or were well known to use or copy popular designs. I think this might be the one:

It looks like a modified Italian Vetterli 1870 originally in 10.35 x 47. Except from your measurements, I'm thinking it's closer to the 6.5 mm later calibration. That is a cool rifle. I hope you can dig up some history on it.

  5. Definitely a vetterli - got one myself.
Found this stuff in my hunt to figure out if it will shoot or not. And what, precisely.

  6. 45er beat me to it. It's a Vetterli, sleeved down to the "newer" cartridge. Post your questions and pics on Gunboards' Italian rifle forum and several experts will soon tell you everything from how to get ammo for it to which armorers originally assembled it on which day. Go here:

Enjoy it--it looks like a good one.
