Over at The Troopers Gal, she comments first on a great weekend and some new Zippo gear. I had to get one. I like it and it looks like this:
The cylinder in the middle has its instructions next to it. Spare lighter fluid, place for a spare flint, key ring, hook, and small screwdriver. It is very functional and handy. Who would not want some lighter fluid and a flint handy? Even if you don't have something like this:
Yeah, I collect them. They are wonderful tools and can be used for many things. I remember seeing them proudly displayed in cases such as this:
They STILL have a lifetime guarantee and I can say if you send one back, you will not be disappointed, much like Case knives.
If anyone has one laying around, here is the short identification chart:
Old meets new again!
I think anyone who's ever been in the military has fond memories of Zippos, too.
ReplyDeleteRev. Paul, I agree, they are very useful tools!
DeleteI'm not a smoker, but I like Zippo lighters and usually carry one in the watch pocket of my jeans. I favor the Zippo Armor lighters, which are made of slightly thicker stock than the standard lighters. They also make a firestarting kit that is housed in a lighter body, includes flint and tinder.
ReplyDeleteBob, Thanks for the firestarter info!
DeleteOh 'good'... I've gotta fight YOU for the good ones??? :-) I've been collecting Zippos since the 70s!
ReplyDeleteNFO, Really?!?!? Is that why I can't get the good ones? LOL!
DeleteI've never smoked but I've often had to fight off the temptation to collect the lighters.
ReplyDeletePH, if you need to start a fire, they are invaluable!
DeleteMan, that brings back memories...
ReplyDeleteLike, the burning sensation in my upper right quadricep every time I'd put a freshly (over)filled Zippo in my pocket...
JayG, Yep! been there, done that! Probably will again too.
DeleteI've got a Zippo somewhere around here. They really are pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteBrooke, they most certainly are cool!
DeleteThankee! So glad I could turn you on to something new! You seem to be in the know on nearly everything....
ReplyDeleteNow, I don't suppose you know how to make ammunition for the Vetterli, eh? It's a pretty hammer if nothing else...
LauraB, I have no knowledge on the Vetterli, but I know someone that does! Send me an email and I will hook you up!
