IDPA Concealment Garment?

So I'm going over the class information for next weekend (AFHF). For purposes of the class: "Concealment means either following IDPA rules for an open front garment (such as a vest) or using a closed front garment".

I really don't want to shell out the cash for a Woolrich or 5.11 vest.

Any ideas?

  1. wal-Mart sells these cool Hawaiian shirts for like $11.00. That's what I use. Any long button-front shirt should do you fine.

  2. I do like the Hawaiian shirts myself. It's what I use for everyday concealment. One thing I would recommend is making sure to get a heavier material. The real thin, lightweight materials seem to not sweep as well. Unfortunately, the heavier ones sweep well but are pretty hot. Another thought is to sew a small weight in the front shirt-tail.

  3. Concur- two sizes too big Hawaiian shirt and sew a couple of quarters in the right front hem... :-) The uglier the better :-)

Impressive! I was reading some of the Prerequisties rules from your link here. I'm out at the 3 X 5 index card thingy

  5. I got a Cabelas "Safari" vest which wasn't too bad price wise but it was more than a WalMart Hawaiian shirt.

Otherwise, it's dark too-large t-shirts for this kid.

  6. Like others have said, long shirts should be fine. I ordered my Eotac vest from Sportsmans Guide for less than $20. You'll be fine with a long shirt covering your firearm.
