Be Right Back!
Out of here! Tomorrow at o' dark thirty. Wish me luck! I will have nothing other than a Kindle or the IThingy for technology. That is part of the allure of the the trip. Well, except for this:
Many thanks to my friends that gave me good advise on how to do this. I have never done this before. Oh, the orange and black thing is a Trakdot. Let you know how it works after the trip!

Some Days at the Office are Better Than Others!
Congrats to my 11 Concealed Carry Handgun students today. They rocked. I love doing this! I am tired, with stuff to be put in the safe still. No matter. This is important.

A Bit of Advice.
"You don't have to win and there is no need to fight." Well after the summer of my discontent I look forward to the first day of Fall. Nice gentle tune, but sometimes there IS a need to fight. Apparently many people feel the same. Off tomorrow to teach a concealed carry handgun class.
I leave you with this gentle tune from Supertramp this evening.

Dear Samsonite,
You have come a long way since 1971! Here is a commercial from then.
Now? Well as I was pulling my luggage out of the closet for a trip next week to see my friend for training in Iowa, this simply broke off. I had not even got it off the floor.
This handle used to be attached to this:
Not anymore! Sheesh! There is a "Lifetime warranty" but it requires me to ship to some obscure repair center. Sorta like Kel-Tek. Its not like this thing has been around the world. yes, 15 years old but still.
Glad it happened here instead of in a airport! I would have been REALLY bent then!

So Yeah This!
Not your normal sunset. Provided by a friend.
I can't thank him enough to be able to take this picture. It's been a LONG time since I have been in the right seat of a 172. Yes, you can change the avionics stack and back then we had seat belts only. However much remains the same.
Then we get to this. Night touch and go. I have no fear although my friend gives me the speech before going up: "If you feel sick, look at the horizon, the things on the floor are not footrests".
Dude. I know the things on the floor are the rudder pedals. I even pre flighted the pitot tube for obstructions and verified the stall warning indicator was the same. You did too. Some things still stick after oh, 30 plus years ago. So he tries this.
A very good pilot! I had no reservations going up with him.
Can't wait to do that again!

WV Blogshoot AAR
Sorry for the delay, its been interesting here in the Chinese way since my return.
Saturday at 340 Defense was fantastic. Even with the last minite venue change the great weather a lack of stink bugs this year and first timers to the event insured a great time.
Our coordinator for the days event Murphy's Law was awesome as always and his write up is here. My friend Proud Hillbilly was present as well and it is always good to see her too. Congrats to the new Grandma! Her writeup is here.
A new addition to our group this year was NancyR over at Excels at Nothing and her write up is here.
So before I post the videos I have a confession to make. taking movies with a iThingy should be done with the thing rotated 90 degrees from the normal call position. I should have gotten the thing that captures moving pictures that cannot make calls out of the car. The fluid dynamics of the day prevented that.
Here is Proud Hillbilly on Nancy's hackbut:
Here is Nancy on the Uzi 9mm:
Here is Proud Hillbilly on the Barrett M82A1 .50 cal.
Here is Nancy on the same rifle:
I had a great time and can't wait for next year! Its amazing to see friends again I met first through this blogosphere and yet still make new ones IRL as well.

Hey What's in the Water in WV?
Hey Holiday Inn Express in Ranson WV, what the frack are you irrigating the grass with? After returning home well uh, this:
Yeah, water spots. Sheesh! I did not want to get the clay out or the DA buffer with more aggressive stuff so I'm trying this stuff out first.
Even if it works, I have to re polish.
Next time I might stay with Murphy and his human! More on the Blog shoot later, I have this to do and some video and pics to edit for that. Short version? Even with the drive and this it was WELL worth it!

Family Reunion AAR
Sorry for the absence this week. So, after eating some really good home cooking and watching children play where I used to do so we head to the family home. It is very pleasing to my mind to watch generations mingle. Very proud to be a part of this family.
Restoration proceeds.
The front porch is now serviceable.
The living room.
View from the rear porch. Added bonus, a built in berm!
Central heat. Powered by the same green energy source as Chevy Volts and Teslas. Coal! Suck it hippies!
Then a recreation of a shot from several years back.
Then a prize from under the house. A loose brick.
Looks like its dated "1908" to me.
I told my Uncle that when he is done I need to rent the house for an extended vacation!
