I hated the thing. By the time you moved the blinds and removed the two locking bars I forgot WHY I was trying to get to the deck! Never mind the huge security risk.
So today, some new French doors.
There was a casualty I should have predicted before I started. The magnetic reed switch and 5.6K ohm EOL resistor for the alarm.
Yeah, they pretty much self destruct after 10 plus years in a door. Right on time the monitoring company called for a trouble alarm. You just can't run out to the shack of radio anymore and get one of these. I ordered one and it will be here Monday. Bypass the zone and keep going. I'm not that worried about losing the door switch there are several other devices providing coverage for that area of humble abode.
Meantime Spring seems to have arrived.
I don't know what the purple thing is but the Butterflies love it!
So wander off for a long overdue haircut. My
I might use that for my new profile picture. Or maybe this one.
In other news, Happy Birthday to Mrs. Curmudgeon! I hope to see her soon.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
The purple flowers are probably wisteria, I saw some blooming in my walk around the neighborhood this morning. Huge patches of it will bloom on Providence Road s. of the Arboretum and on Chestnut.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob. I don't get to Charlotte much!
DeleteThe new doors look nice. Well done, sir.
ReplyDeleteNice portrait, too, but I kinda lean toward the last one. :)
Thanks Shepard! Yeah, I am too. That pic was taken with good friends and during a good time.
DeleteYou will LOVE those doors... AND the increased security! And the haircut makes you look considerably older!
ReplyDelete+1 on the doors NFO. Just for the last crack I will bring an M&P for you to shoot next time!
DeleteYou have a great week-end, too...and I recognize that last pic!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. I thought you would! Great time. Can't wait to do it again. It seems that during a blog shoot I am more concerned with everyone else shooting than me.
DeleteThe new doors are absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe new hair cut isn't bad either :)
Blessings,
Red
Why thanks Red!
DeleteNice, very nice job on the doors Keads. I should have called you when I put mine in. You did a better job!
ReplyDeleteAs for the haircut I can't relate. Unless a razor to the scalp counts!
Ha! Thanks Six!
DeleteAlthough staying warm isn't much of a problem down south, you will probably find those great looking French doors are also much more energy efficient than the old patio door. Wonder how much your AC bill will drop in the summer?
ReplyDeleteHope you don't have any trouble with too much light getting through the blinds and causing glare (if that's the TV room). It looks like the old vertical blinds blocked the light a bit better.
Flowers, grass - so that's what they look like. I had almost forgotten. Thanks for the reminder.
The new haircut is good. The "product" is perhaps not so good; it looks like it tamed the personality too much.
I agree on the blocking aspect. These are not as good as the vertical blinds. It is the living room with the TV.
DeleteAs far as the "product"? Its gone!
Nice doors!
ReplyDeleteLooks like butterfly bush to me - do you cut it back every year?
Thanks PH! No I have not touched it. I have been here since '06.
