Here we have a Bersa .380 Thunder brought to me with a broken safety lever. I did not strip it all the way down, I just let it soak in this for a while:
Ultrasonic cleaner with the USTC method of 50% Simple Green and 50% water. Then hosed it down with Break Free and let it sit for a couple of days.
Then reassembly with the new safety lever (broken one is upper right):
Wonder what they was trying to shoot with a cigarette butt? lol
ReplyDeleteNice looking gun.
That's slick Keads. I've even got an ultrasonic cleaner that Lu uses for her jewelry. I think it's just about big enough. With the 50/50 Simple Green and water will it take out bore fouling?
ReplyDeleteSix,
ReplyDeleteThis is a gun that has been rode hard and put up wet. The bath took almost all of the bore fouling out of it. I did touch it up after with some break free and a bore snake.
I have to say that that if it is good enough for USTC Armorers, it's good enough for me and it DOES work.
I HAVE THAT WEAPON!!!
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY time it has ever misfired was during my CCW qualification, of course. It stovepiped a round.
Thanks. I'm going to give that a try. I've got a G26 that badly needs a bath.
ReplyDeleteSix, use hot water, seems to work better!
ReplyDeleteWill do and thanks again. I'm lazy so anything that cuts down on the drudgery is always highly appreciated. I linked to this post because it's awesome covered awesome with an awesome filling.
ReplyDeleteBrooke- That is how it usually goes huh! Nice gun and it shot well today. First time I fired one of those.
ReplyDeleteSix- Thanks! If Blackwater, uh USTC people tell me about it and show me that method, I'm cool with it and the results are amazing. That was one of the tricks that made the Armorer class worth it! Remember though the gun will have been TOTALLY degreased as well. Thanks for the link!
Six: You forgot the awesomesauce.
ReplyDeleteI bet this would work on my sig 380. I got a lot of body lint in it because a pack it where ever I go. So it's kind of funky not from firing so much as it is from everyday use.
ReplyDeleteSarge- Try it! It works well, and welcome!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keads. I feel at home here.
ReplyDeleteSarge- The honor is mine! Thanks for stopping by. Let me know if you try this method and what you think.
