How to spend Summer Vacation!

Just got confirmation on this for June! Requirements for vacation are: "Pistol, holster, three high capacity (15rds) magazines or six low capacity (7-8 rds), magazine holders, belt, clear wraparound ballistic eye protection, ear protection, rain gear, weapons cleaning kit, clothing appropriate for climate and conditions and a water bottle or other hydration system.  Knee and elbow pads are strongly recommended. 1200 rounds of ammunition."

I am going to the evil Blackwater Unicorns and Rainbows USA Training facility in North Carolina! 

Yea! So although some wonder about "IT guys" wandering around and I DO resemble that remark from the queen of snark I humbly present my interpretation of the requirements:

Pistol, check!

 

Colt Combat Commander in .45ACP.

Holster, check! El Paso saddlery and leather OWB.

Six low capacity magazines with holders, got ya covered!

 

Everything else except for "hydration system" I have covered. Hmm... OK first thought:

 

Well, it was a thought, but not really portable.

Well, I have until June to complete my shopping list!

Blogaversary!

Hard to believe but this blog is officially one year old today. I have met some really nice people! 303 posts and counting! Thanks to everyone that has stopped by to check on my ramblings on one thing or another!

QOTD- Basic Pistol Class

So today I had 18 students for Basic Pistol class. New shooters including three juveniles with parents! Yes! Perhaps there is hope for the future! 

So while I am collecting the tuition this comes up. I am dressed so:

 

So a man and woman ask if a check is OK. I say sure. The woman whips out a checkbook and starts writing a check. The man looks over and asks her: "Are you really going to write a Hello Kitty check to the guy with the big gun on his hip?"

Hello Kitty check:

I respond that its OK, there are Hello Kitty AR's out there!

Great class and I am honored to serve in this manner. Congratulations are in order for my 18 first time shooters that shot a .22 semi, a .38 revolver, and 9mm semi!

I have lurked around on Tam's 1911 post along with others on the matter. I must agree, it is something to behold!

As far as Glocks go I got one last year and I love it! I have never had a failure and it requires so little maintenance! Here it is:

 

It works great! I don't understand what all of the fuss is about, can't we all just get along? Think of the children! 

NFO takes all of this to a higher level. I concur with his assessment. I don't care what you have and/or carry but please do not make all of the responsible legal gun owners look stupid! I also agree with Breda from NFO's post. 

So, where does this leave us? I really do not know. If the only experience you have with handguns is running around with whatever is currently available on the PS3 or Xbox, get a clue.

Whatever you say about them they are simply mechanical objects, each with competing design constraints and goals. ALL OF THEM!

FEDERAL Ammunion Recall

Federal is recalling .45ACP ammunition across several brands. Link to Federal info here. So here is another reason to keep factory ammo in the original box!

NC State Bill 34 Castle Doctrine
