Blogshoot!

My friend is at it again! The annual Blogshoot hosted by none other than Murphy's Law! Can't wait to see some good friends, eat, and shoot stuff! 

I always bring more stuff than I actually shoot however. I'm going to try to keep it simple this year. I don't get to do the long gun thing much around here so maybe a M-1 Garand and Winchester model 94 would be in order.

Fabulous Prizes!

*cough*, maybe not so much. I'm bringing this stuff for the prize table for the pin shoot this Saturday hosted by the best driver on the planet Murphys Law. If you do not believe me, just ask him.

As an added bonus, you MIGHT get the book signed by the Author. As with so many famous people he is: "Scheduled to attend." 

All kidding aside, cancer has touched my family and this is a good cause. My Father was one of the first to have his prostrate removed by a DiVinci robot over 10 years ago due to that cancer. My Mother has just been through a double mastectomy due to breast cancer. This stuff sucks. Anything you can do would be appreciated. 

I would much rather prefer to see you at the Blogshoot this Saturday as well! A great bunch of people and a good time is to be had!

See These Evil Things and Beware!

So my friend and all around awesome person is having a Blogshoot to raise money for cancercare.org. Besides having all the toys and hating on the Colt's around here he is a great guy and has some interesting things that go "BANG". 

Behold the evil below. Be afraid, be very afraid. 

These things will stand away from you at about 12 yards or so. You will try to shoot them. They will mock you by still standing after you fire at them. They have caused men and women to lament and wail the fate that has befallen them. The fact that you are under a timer and people are watching adds to the level of torment.  

Come on out! It will be fun! These will be imported pins from North Carolina. Evil Rebel Tarheel Pins =)

The Pins Are Ready!

And so are the prizes. Are you? I am always stunned at the "gunnie" community. It is truly an amazing thing to watch people come together to help another. I am truly honored to be associated with this group. We are doing this for Dawn. The Web Site is here for the event. The pins are pink for tomorrow.

Come if you can!  Me? No I don't think I will have time to shoot. I'm giving a Basic Pistol class to people that will donate but not compete. That's OK too. Mr. and Mrs. Curmudgeon will be in attendance and that is always a good thing. They might even shoot the pins. 

The closest thing to A "BBQ pistol" I have is this. 

 I'll be taking it.

I would truly appreciate it. I personally know several women that have been through this. Breast Cancer. Chemo.  Double Mastectomy. Reconstruction. 

The fund raising event is here. I don't ask for much here. When I do I ask for very little. If you can give 5 bucks I would really be grateful. The person that is running this is retired LEO and a fellow instructor. Yes, he is in direct competition with me for students, but he and I do not care when it comes to these matters. 

I will be there to be a gopher, admin, run around, anything needed. I owe the Women that I know that went through this at least this much. They are both special to me and both live far away from here. This is the least I can do for them as they both enrich my life now. They by any definition should be dead now yet they are not!

Blogshoot!

My good friend and walking encyclopedia on things that go "BOOM" is hosting his third annual Charity fundraiser blog shoot in Charles Town WV on September the 14th. I have attended all of them and this one promises to be the best! Our own range for the day! How awesome is that?!?!

The first one in 2011 has this AAR from me here. The second here. 

If you like guns and meeting really fantastic people raising money for a good cause then you have no excuse for coming!

I'm raising the bar here. It is a seven or so hour drive for me and I will bring some interesting hardware and ammo for ya to shoot.

A Raffle for a Good Cause

Just got an e-mail from Kentucky Gun Co. I have done a lot of business with them and they just don't send e-mails out.

"One week ago today, on Saturday, May 25, 2013 one of our local officers was shot and killed in the line of duty.  Officer Jason Ellis was seven year veteran and K9 officer for the Bardstown Police Dept.  Officer Jason Ellis was not only a patron and friend of KYGUNCO, but also responded to most of KYGUNCO's late night alarm calls.  Officer Ellis was an outgoing officer in our community, and was an active coach in local youth sports.  Ellis is the first Bardstown police officer shot and killed in the line of duty in the department's history. Officer Jason Ellis leaves behind a wife and two young sons."

Update on NFO's Raffle!

If it matters to anyone I shot the Colt Diamondback that NFO is raffling off in WV during Murph's Blog shoot for the Wounded Warriors Project. In my humble opinion it is sweetness and light. Both double and single action. I'm in! How about you? It is for a good cause. 

I need to keep this name badge in good standing!

I'm a supporter

Check the right sidebar. I found out about it at "insert witty title here". Here is one of the best reasons given that motivates me to do what I do. If you can spare some time or change to help domestic violence centers where you are please do so. I met many wonderful people during a fundraiser for my local shelter.

Helping these victims find a voice has to do some good!

A letter from the front lines......

In Arizona! In the summer I sent the Pinal County Justice Foundation a modest donation. They were asking for funds to procure weapons for Deputies. So today this showed up in the mailbox (click to enbiggen):

Wow! I have never received any correspondence from any unit of government that ended with "God bless you and, Bless our Country!" All correspondence I get usually has an "Amount Due:" at the bottom! I figure the State Budget might be under a little strain with the upcoming legal fight on the immigration law so I thought I would help in my own humble way. 

And Good on Colt for giving them some "stuff"!  

We CAN make a difference people! You don't even need a Wookie suit either!
